THE STRANGERS WITHIN: A portrait of the Roma.: Post-Production and Festivals

Having completed their final edit in December at TODAY IS BORING studios, the directors of THE STRANGERS WITHIN, Jimmy and Dickon, are currently working with TODAY IS BORING to get their finished work 'out there', via international film festivals. We've just finished some artwork, and are excited to help Jimmy and Dickon get the product of all their hard work, and fantastic experiences in front of audiences. We are primarily focussing on exclusively documentary festivals for now, and talking to people interested in taking our project further.

About the film

DANIELE JIMMY HENDERSON (director)

Daniele Jimmy Henderson is a self taught filmmaker from Italy.

He graduated from "Universita' di Psicologia" in Pavia in 2003.

Upon graduating, he worked for an NGO called Caritas in Milan, helping homeless and ex-prisoners to reintegrate themselves into society.

In 2005 he joined a group of clown therapists in Italy for volunteer work in a hospital for terminally ill children. The following year he began film making, producing a series of music videos for independent artists, shorts and art installations.

In 2009, together with Dickon Bevan, he received a grant from the British Arts Council to lead THE STRANGERS WITHIN film project, dealing with the Roma people, their recent collective experiences in Romania and the issues they face and the issues they face in today's and tomorrow's Romanian society.

DICKON BEVAN (director)

Dickon Bevan has come from an anthropological background, graduating from Oxford Brookes with a BA Hons in Anthropology, where he was ranked top student in Environmental Anthropology.

After graduating, his awareness of social and environmental issues expanded, and he began to combine his passion for visual art into exposing underrepresented minorities and campaigning for human rights.

In 2008 he worked for the

Poppy Project aiding them in supporting sex traffic victims.

In 2009, he was awarded funding from the British Arts Council to direct this feature length documentary on the Roma people within Romania.

Myles Hayden (Sound Engineer)

Having graduated in Music Technology ay City College Manchester in 2003 with a double distinction he went on to achieve a BA Hons in Sound and Media at London Metropolitan University in 2006. Today Myles works as a sound engineer in live music and event production, film location recording, film audio post production and radio. He has also created sound installations and has exhibited such artworks throughout Europe and North America. A good friend of Jimmy and Dickon, Myles recorded all the various location audio and engineered audio post production for the THE STRANGERS WITHIN.

TODAY IS BORING

TODAY IS BORING is a film society, film events promotions, and film production company in London, UK. Beginning as a specialist DVD hire shop in Shoreditch, London in 2002, we were actively involved in developing working relationships with various individuals and organisations in the film, art, music and fashion world through our regular screening of films at various citywide venues. In November 2008,

TODAY IS BORING moved from Shoreditch to Dalston, taking on a new direction. Our involvement in various aspects of the film industry and various creative communities revolving around the use of the moving image, has found us to be involved in many new exciting and varied collaborations, projects and productions.
